No water allocated to irrigators
Tuesday, May 29, 2007
Victoria's largest rural water authority has confirmed there will be no opening allocation this irrigation season.
Despite recent heavy rain, irrigators will not receive water in their channels at the start of July.
Goulburn Murray Water's Alex Marshall says the outlook is grim.
"We really need continuing rain, the rain that we've had has been significant but it's really only wet up the catchment," he said.
"We really need the same amount again to start to see really good inflows or to get significant inflows that we can bank for next years allocation."
