National farm group expels WA representation
Monday, June 18, 2007
The National Farmers' Federation has expelled the Pastoralists and Graziers Association of Western Australia for failing to pay its membership fees.
The peak farm group is now without representation from the west.
But NFF president David Crombie denies that his group can no longer say it speaks for all of Australia's farmers.
"Western Australian industries are represented through commodity groups, so there is a very strong Western Australian voice that appears around the table in terms of policy development and I'm talking about cattle and I'm talking about sheep and I'm talking about wool and I'm talking about grains," he said.
"There is representation around our table."
The NFF has promised remaining state members that it will review its funding and organisational structure by the end of the year.
