NSW crop harvest looks bleak
Friday, September 07, 2007
Hopes of a big harvest are fading fast in central and southern New South Wales.
Graham Skipworth at Lake Cargelligo in the Riverina, is one who faces yet another failed season.
"Well, the crops aren't faring at all at the moment," he said.
"The situation is that they've just dried off to nothing.
"Some of them won't even make decent stock feed.
"A lot of producers including myself won't harvest any seed.
"Stocks of fodder and grain on hand has just run down to nothing because nothing's been replenished and the main thing that's not getting replenished is your bank account."
