20-65mm of rain in south-east Qld
Thursday, September 06, 2007
In the past 24 hours, about 65mm has fallen around the Sunshine Coast in South-East Queensland. The Gold Coast received about 60mm and Brisbane 20mm.
Wet and colder is the message for south-east Queensland today (Wednesday) from the Weather Bureau, raising hopes of ending the critical dry spell since good rains in mid-August.
Rainfall could provide 50mm over the next four days for Wivenhoe and Somerset dams, and between 100mm and 200mm for the Sunshine Coast.
It looks like most of the heaviest falls will be up through the Wide Bay and Sunshine Coast area and general rain is expected around the south-east, probably similar to that recorded during the last 24 hours.
The dams close to Brisbane could get 50mm to 100mm over the four days.
